My friend's mom actually commented on this idea last week. My friend and I made dinner for her parents one night, and her mom remarked that it was so "our generation" that we searched on Food Network for a recipe that contained the ingredients we had in her fridge, instead of finding a recipe from a cookbook or somewhere.

As someone who came of culinary age by watching the first generation of TV chefs (Julia Child, etc.) , I really related to your post and enjoyed reading it. Alton Brown, Giada, and Rachel Ray have furthered my education and continue to do so. The Food Network is a wonderful resource and I love that its getting people in the kitchen and cooking.

Love the sound of your bi-weekly cooking adventures - how very cool indeed.
