Freaky, Cheeky, Unusual Covergirl: Gaga’s Best Looks

She’s a pop goddess and an eccentric fashion icon, so it was only a matter of time until she graced the cover of high fashion’s most revered publication. Lady Gaga’s Vogue cover has been getting a lot of media attention of late–some positive and some negative. So naturally, I thought I’d put my two cents in.

I think the cover is phenomenal. I mean, let’s be honest, there’s no way Anna Wintour is signing off on a cover that is anything less than perfect. With her hot pink, uber-short pageboy wig and burnt berry stained lips, Gaga hints at the drama she’s known for while staying in the realm of high fashion and avoiding the ridiculous.

From the neck down, she’s all cover model in a carefully draped blush kimono by Haider Ackermann. She looks like an alien dominatrix-Grecian goddess hybrid, and I think it works. I wouldn’t say the look is pretty, but it’s definitely high fashion.

And in honor of the Lady holding court on the cover of Vogue, let’s take a look at a few of the craziest looks that have gotten her here.

1. Phantom of the Gaga
At the 2010 Brit Awards, Lady Gaga rocked this triple-tiered white Francesco Scognamiglio creation along with a Marie Antoinette updo and dramatic face mask.

2. Can You Hear Me Now?
The Gaga wore this literal Georgio Armani Prive creation on The Jonathan Ross Show while promoting her song Telephone in the UK.
(P.S. Note the 8-inch stripper heels, not pictured.)

3. Harlequin Romance
Lady Gaga turned up for a press conference in Seoul dressed as a stripper/court jester combo. But as usual, it works for her.

4. Hairy Gaga
I don’t really know where to begin with this Charlie le Mindu creation, which she wore during a show in Paris. Très poilue, no?

5. The Flying Nun in a Condom
And last but not least, Lady Gaga wore this skin-toned body condom to her appearance on Good Morning America to promote safe-sex. To me, this kind of conflicts with the convent situation on top of her head.

As you can see, this pop culture phenom and fearless fashion icon has sported quite the wardrobe over the few years we’ve known her. And I suspect that this Vogue cover is only one stop on her journey to world domination. So what can we expect to see gracing the hot bod of Mama Monster in the future? Only she can know, but I’m sure it will be something fabulous.

Hahaha this is so great. I don’t care what anyone says, Gaga is a genius. But Hannah, dear, how on earth could you forget the meat dress?! I did a ridiculous amount of research on that one. Did you know that the meat wasn’t treated with any sort of product for preserving? I thought it would be scotch guarded or something. Nope, just strips of meat. It had to be shipped in in its own chilled meat casket.

Definitely a one wear only ensemble as the designer of the dress said that it will dry out within days (a la beef jerky dress!)

Yeah, the meat dress is a classic! But I figured that since it already got so much attention on it’s own, I would highlight some of the less talked about but equally fantastic outfits. Thanks Kayla!!
