Not Your Average Theme Week

This month’s theme week is Not Your Average Week, during which TNGG will attempt to explore some alternative lifestyles Millennials are living these days.

From professional nomads to vegans to extreme gamers to revolutionaries in tent cities, this generation is all about bucking the status quo. It’s been said before and I’ll say it again: we’re on a quest for originality.

Obviously, living outside the lines isn’t something Millennials invented. But, we are taking it to a whole new level, as we struggle to find our footing in a world that’s changing more rapidly than ever. TNGG wants to tell these stories and shine a light on how and why “alternative” lifestyles are gaining in popularity and how various ideas of what’s “normal” will morph the world we grow up into.

Take a look throughout this week for posts by the TNGG community about the fascinating lifestyles of some not-so-average twenty-somethings.

Alex Pearlman I love the John Adams miniseries, the Disney version of Peter Pan, and 'A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius.' My heroes include Aaron Sorkin, Audrey Hepburn, Gloria Steinem, Woody Allen and Allen Ginsberg. I don't like the two-party system, I do like crossword puzzles. I like red wine, I don't like fascists. I like big ideas, I don't like apathy. I like Wikileaks, I don't like censorship. I believe journalism needs a full-blown revolution to survive. Also, I'm the Editor in Chief of The Next Great Generation. Twitter: @lexikon1
