I think this is just proving the point, actually. I know you, as a person, and I know how much you personally value authenticity. So it's natural that you would see her as a real and talented act, as opposed to the rest of the chatter, which insists she's a marketing ploy. Like I said, you see in her whatever you want.

All that matters about Lana Del Rey is that she is beautiful and talented. She fucked up on SNL for no other reason than A) nerves and B) most likely alcohol or other substance inebriation. All of Lana Del Rey's songs are catchy in a commercial sense and different and arousing for those who are too deep to consider themselves commercial. She is a fucking star, and it is not because of the internet, the internet was a mere vehicle to drive her stardom. Get ready world, the remixes have started, the songs are everywhere, her name is trending...fuck you Britney Spears and your team that has been with you since Mickey Mouse, and fuck you American Idol with your television production and video editing. Lana Del Rey is the real deal, I stand behind her, I stand behind her and her shitty performance on SNL before I stand behind any of the presidential candidates. You wanna get real America? Then turn OFF your Reality TV.

I respect your opinion, but you can't say that it makes people "dumb" or "causes them to lose touch with family and friends". I've been smoking pot since 5th grade and i am a junior in high school, and my relationship with my family and friends has done nothing but get stronger. Granted i have a lot of friends that also use marijuana, but i also have a lot that don't. How are my grades? I have all B's and above... When i was in 4th grade i was prescribed "Adderal" which is a drug to treat ADD. As a result of the medicine i became underweight from loss of appetite and I became severely depressed. While and before i was using adderal my grades were D's and F's. The next year i started smoking pot ,while still taking adderal. i noticed my appetite was back (even when i was on adderal) and i was becoming more social and generally a happier person. Once i hit 7th grade my doctor took me off of the medication and said i wouldn't need it again.

Phillip,

Thanks for sharing. I think that YES, there should be a movement to get more kids to save from an earlier age. It's genius. I mean we go to school and learn about things like calculus and the infinitive of something we don't understand that more than half of us won't ever use in our lives and BASIC life skills are just not being taught. Personal finance should be heavily promoted in high school so that Gen-Yers are not in such poor financial situations post-college.

You definitely right about the ticket prices. The information here is based on averages, which includes your city cinemas as well as $2 second run theatres, outside the suburbs. It's interesting to consider that a general, weekend evening ticket at AMC, Cinemark, or Regal in or near a city will be $11, but if you see it in 3-D or on one of their larger screens, ETX, XD, and RPX respectively, that will cost about $15 a ticket.

You bring up an interesting point with the popcorn. Roger Ebert argues that not necessarily larger prices alone, but that in combination with larger portions drives customers away. Think of it like this. "Why am I paying over $10 for something I definitely can't finish?" Also, some of the major theatres, I know Cinemark for a fact does this because I worked there for a time, make their medium and large sized popcorns equal. Essentially, when you pay for a large, the only difference from a medium is that you are paying for a refill. However, as Ebert noted, you're not going to finish your popcorn, so why bother paying for the refill? It's things like this that further annoy customers, when they're already dissatisfied with the entertainment, something theatres can't control.
