Mom texting: It’s growing on me

When my mom began to text me during my freshman year at Boston College, at first it made me feel wildly uncomfortable. Beyond the wrongful use of abbreviations, during our first few conversations via text, I felt that my mother was entering a sacred territory. But now, mom texting feels familiar and similar to the notes I used to get with my lunch bag when I was in grade school.
We’re cynical, confused, and just don’t care about politics

Why is it that kids don’t give a shit about politics? Today’s politicians just don’t seem to measure up. When your generation has grown up with Jon Edwards, Mark Foley, and Gary Condit – not to mention all the influence of money in politics – it’s hard not to be cynical.

Ah, Cuba, the land of bountiful beaches, booming casinos, and, of course, cigars. The U.S. has stalled relations with our island neighbor for 50 years now, and Millennials, too young to remember the complexities of the Cold War, are speaking out about the need to end the embargo.

Because our parents told us they wanted better for us than what they had. We like change. We thrive on it, we’re used to it, and we want it.
